#BUILD IT SMALLER
Kelberman Center &
First and foremost, we fully support the mission of the Kelberman Center and their goal to build an inclusive community. We are not upset about the KIND of people, it is the NUMBER of them. We object to the building being 4 storys high and 60 units. It is much too large and out of scale for our historic neighborhood of 1 and 2 family homes. We also object to its impact on our aging and overburdened infrastructure, the seriously flawed process in City Hall, and not having ANY input at all into a publicly funded project that will substantially change our neighborhood forever.
The Kelberman project is just the tip of the iceberg. Utica has a significant amount of acreage with the same “magic zoning,” including everything in beige on the zoning map above (St. Elizabeths, Faxton, Utica Nursing Center and Seymour Park).
